The LegendWoodspirits are powerful and fiercely protective beings who guard all the living things within the shadow of their tree. They can be found if you are observant while walking in the woods. If you find one you are extremely fortunate. Sightings are rare, usually by children or the pure of heart.When a tree dies, its spirit may be depicted and released through the work of a carver. In early Alberta, the carvings were called "Bannock Gods" who watched that little children ate their Bannock, Native American flat bread. In Europe, villagers would look for spirits in the surrounding woods. Spirits were later carved to bring luck to a household, ward off undesirable spirits and keep the household safe. Any house which is home to a woodspirit will stand protected and be blessed with good luck, health and happiness. |
